Introducing the Datalogic Falcon X60 and X65: Built for the Hardest Shifts

Datalogic Falcon X60 and X65 – New Ultra-Rugged Android Mobile Computer

If your operation runs hard — multiple shifts, cold storage, outdoor loading docks, forklift aisles — your mobile computers need to keep up. Datalogic’s Falcon X60/X65 is a handheld computer engineered from the ground up for exactly that environment, and brings several genuinely notable advancements to the rugged handheld market.

What’s New & Notable

A significant step forward in mobile computer scanning range and speed

The headline feature is Datalogic’s new XLR (Extra-Long Range) barcode scanner, which reads barcodes at distances up to 20 meters. Combined with the patented Green Spot™ technology — a visible confirmation dot projected directly onto the label — operators get instant, eyes-on confirmation without looking down at their device. The Green Spot is visible up to 10 meters on the XLR imager, which is a meaningful improvement for high-bay warehouse environments.

The TrueAim™ two-stage trigger adds precision targeting to reduce misreads before they happen — a small ergonomic detail that adds up to real efficiency gains across a full shift.

Key feature highlights:

Datalogic Falcon X60/X65 tech highlights
  • XLR imager/barcode scanner reads barcodes up to 20 meters; Green Spotâ„¢ visible confirmation up to 10 meters
  • TrueAimâ„¢ two-stage trigger for precision targeting and fewer misreads
  • Wi-Fi 6/6E with WPA3 Enterprise security on both models
  • 5G cellular, GPS/GNSS, and eSIM on the X65 for outdoor and multi-site operations
  • Qualcomm QCx4490 Octa-Core 2.4 GHz processor with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage
  • Operating system: Android 15 GMS with a committed upgrade path to Android 19

Connectivity is another major upgrade. Both models support Wi-Fi 6/6E with WPA3 Enterprise security. The X65 adds 5G cellular (including private network and CBRS support), GPS/GNSS, and an eSIM slot — making it the stronger choice for operations that span indoor and outdoor environments or require cellular backup.

Model Comparison – Two models, one platform

The Datalogic Falcon X60 and X65 models share the same processor, display, OS, keyboard options, battery, and ruggedization. The X65 adds 5G cellular, GPS/GNSS, a barometric pressure sensor, and an eSIM slot for operations that need cellular connectivity or location awareness.

Where It Fits – Strong applications across several verticals

The Falcon X60/X65 is a natural fit across several demanding industries:

Warehousing & Distribution

Inventory management, receiving, putaway, picking, shipping, and work order management. The XLR imager handles high-bay racking without requiring operators to physically approach every scan point.

Transportation & Logistics

Truck loading and unloading, forklift operations, baggage management, and returns. The 5G-capable X65 is well-suited for yard management and outdoor dock use.

Manufacturing

Intralogistics, kitting, quality control, and traceability. The field-detachable handle supports both handheld and pistol-grip configurations for different task types on the floor.

Healthcare Warehousing

Receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, and batch tracking in clinical supply chains where chemical resistance and reliability are non-negotiable.

Ready to evaluate the Datalogic Falcon X60 or X65 for your operation?

We are an authorized Datalogic partner. Contact CSSI Technologies for mobile computer pricing, demos, and compatibility guidance, or to speak with an enterprise mobility specialist.

1: What’s the difference between the Falcon X60 and the X65 — which one do I need? The X60 is the Wi-Fi-only model, best suited for indoor environments like warehouses and distribution centers with solid wireless coverage. The X65 adds 5G cellular, GPS, and an eSIM, making it the better choice for operations that extend outdoors — loading docks, yard management, or multi-site environments where Wi-Fi isn’t always available. Both models are otherwise identical in hardware, OS, battery, and ruggedization.

2: We’re already running Skorpio X5 docks. Do we need to replace our charging infrastructure? No. The Falcon X60/X65 is fully backward compatible with existing Skorpio X5 docks and accessories, including both contact and wireless charging variants. You can deploy new devices without replacing your cradles or dock stations.

3: How does the 20-meter scanning range work in practice — do operators need to do anything differently? Not really. The XLR imager works like a standard scanner but with a much longer reach. Datalogic’s Green Spotâ„¢ technology projects a visible confirmation dot directly onto the label when a scan registers successfully, so operators get immediate feedback without changing their workflow. The TrueAimâ„¢ two-stage trigger helps with precision at longer distances to minimize misreads.

4: What does Android 15 — upgradeable to Android 19 — mean for our IT team? It means a longer, more predictable device lifecycle. Rather than forcing a hardware refresh every time Android moves forward, Datalogic has committed to OS upgrade support through Android 19. For IT, that translates to fewer emergency replacement cycles, more consistent MDM/EMM compatibility over time, and better ROI on the hardware investment.

5: What’s the warranty and support situation for the Datalogic Falcon series? The Falcon X60/X65 includes a standard 1-year factory warranty. Datalogic also offers EASEOFCARE service plans, which add Datalogic Shield for ongoing Android security patches and OS upgrades. CSSI can walk you through the right coverage level for your fleet size and operational requirements — that’s a good topic to cover in a demo conversation.
