{"id":2720,"date":"2025-12-09T06:35:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T06:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cssi.com\/gp\/?p=2720"},"modified":"2025-09-29T19:08:48","modified_gmt":"2025-09-29T19:08:48","slug":"how-to-create-sales-process-holds-in-gp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cssi.com\/gp\/2025\/12\/09\/how-to-create-sales-process-holds-in-gp\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Create Sales Process Holds in GP"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Assigning Process Holds to Sales Documents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use the Sales Process Holds Setup window to create process holds to assign to your sales documents.&nbsp; Process holds are user-defined restrictions that control the processing of sales documents at different stages of the sales cycle.<br><br>Some examples of process holds are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prevent posting of documents until a manager approves the transactions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restrict the printing of invoices until addresses have been verified<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stop the order fulfillment process because a part has been recalled by the manufacturer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prevent the transferring of a quote to an order if the customer is over its credit limit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can set up passwords to further restrict processing.\u00a0 The user must enter the password to remove holds from documents.\u00a0 If you do not use passwords, you can set up a process hold just to remind the user to complete a task before processing a sales document.\u00a0 Once the task is completed, the user must remove the hold from the document before processing occurs.\u00a0 You can apply process holds to any sales order processing document type.<br><br>To set up process holds, go to Sales > Setup > Process Holds.\u00a0 Enter an ID and description.\u00a0 You can assign a password or leave it blank.\u00a0 Check which processes you want to restrict with this hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"377\" height=\"335\" data-src=\"https:\/\/b3387384.smushcdn.com\/3387384\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/sales-proc-1.png?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2721 lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/b3387384.smushcdn.com\/3387384\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/sales-proc-1.png?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 377w, https:\/\/b3387384.smushcdn.com\/3387384\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/sales-proc-1-300x267.png?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 300w, https:\/\/b3387384.smushcdn.com\/3387384\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/sales-proc-1-90x80.png?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 90w, https:\/\/b3387384.smushcdn.com\/3387384\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/sales-proc-1-120x107.png?lossy=2&strip=1&webp=1 120w\" data-sizes=\"auto\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 377px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 377\/335;\" data-original-sizes=\"(max-width: 377px) 100vw, 377px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>To assign a Hold to a SOP transaction, go to Sales > Transactions > Sales Transaction and select a document.
